Summer Retreat 2022

INFO

CONCEPT

Hangzavart? Summer Course 2022 explored the concept of temperament in both its musical and human dimensions. The program examined how the art of balancing and adjusting musical intervals—a practice central to Western music’s development—parallels our human capacity to harmonize different perspectives and forces in creative work.

This week-long intensive brought together diverse musicians and composers from Hungary, Romania, and Serbia to investigate how temperament shapes both our tuning systems and our artistic collaborations. Through workshops, performances, and discussions, participants explored historical tuning practices alongside contemporary approaches to artistic cooperation and collective creation.
